Match Report - Away to Camp Climax

April 14th 13:30, Kløvermarken

Team:

Luis, Wouter, Robert, Ben Ward, Bruno, Jesper, Nash (Cpt), Lasse, Ben D, Nick, Crouch

Subs: Francisco, Thorben, Abdul.

Cph Celtics B team had the luxury of playing in medeiteranian conditions in mid april as temperatures soared to 20oC . However perhaps we were too busy taking in the sun or maybe worrying about our keeper who had neer played 11 a side belfore. As the whistler blew for kick off Camp Climax were the quicker team out of the blocks and earned a corner with the subsiquent cross having to be cleared from the line. Stand in keeper Luis then went walk about only for Climax's wide man to mis cue his cross and allow us to clear once more. The fans watching the game were worried this was merely a sign of things to come, however as the game progressed the Celtic team were clearly starting to take control. Chances were created for Nick after good work from Crouch and then Francisco blazed over from 12 yards as he went one on one with the keeper.

The second half started as the first half ended with only the final ball/finsh eluding us when both Nick and Thorben went close. Luis (special mention to him for rolling up and having a smoke at half time..!!) was forced to make a smart save as Camp Climax made a break away from their own half and at this stage it was looking like a stalemate would ensue, but after a cross from the left was cleared out of the opposition box Captain Anders Nash smashed the ball home from 20 yards with just 15minutes remaining. Lady luck then played her part as one of the Camp Climax players had to withdraw injured and with no subs Cetics suddenly had both a goal lead and numerical advantage. However at this point we were determined to upstage Arsenal's wastefullness infront of goal as chance after chance was missed to bury the game. A fighting Camp Climax almost earned a point after a mistake in the back line allowed their number 10 to float a half volley over Luis (his eyes may have been somewhat blurred at this stage) and onto the post.

After all of this excitment the game wound down and when a camp climax player made a truely horrendous foul on Abdul the referee blew the final whistle earning Celtic and rookie manager Robert Stronach 3 points and a great start to the season.

Man of the Match: A Nash

Goal: A Nash 75'
